Change Your Status

1.  Change Your Status (w/ Yourself)

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out;

you formed me in my mother’s womb.

I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking!

Body and soul, I am marvelously made!

I worship in adoration—what a creation!

You know me inside and out,

you know every bone in my body;

You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit,

how I was sculpted from nothing into something.

Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth;

all the stages of my life were spread out before you,

The days of my life all prepared

before I’d even lived one day. (Psalm 139: 13-16)

Isn’t it crazy how many young people have been attracted to the social networking fad that has swept through our generation?  I feel like i never have their complete attention.  But it’s the same with myself.  Most people will see me on a computer most days or even on my cell phone when I’m hanging out with them.  What can I say? I’m addicted to technology.  That being said, I see that sometimes our generation loves attention and they seek it in different ways.  They might try to post something crazy to get a response, post a picture or change their profile pic just to get some feedback…well, you see where this is going.

Many young people haven’t accepted who God made them but instead they embrace who people want them to be.  I think I was like that growing up.  I was never part of the cool crowd or even had a healthy self image of myself.  Somehow over a few years I became the “friend” that people could turn to.  After a few years I just fell into that role.  People loved me for it so I gave into what people wanted and eventually expected from me.  Have you been there?  Well, from experience, don’t stay here.  Although I love being a great friend, I know God created me for more.  Don’t be too extreme: some young people are way too confident and others beat themselves up.  If you learn to see what God sees in you, you’ll be on your way to fulfilling your destiny and helping others around you.

Remember:

  • God created you!
  • He birthed you with greatness.  Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.  You can overcome anything with God’s help.
  • He knew this day would come! He knew you would be reading this today!
